Team UIS requires employees to wear Type II, Class E hard hats that provide a higher level of protection:
- Type II hard hats provide additional protection from side impacts unlike traditional Type I hard hats that only protect against impacts to the top of the head
- Class E helmets are designed for electrical work environments and are tested to withstand up to 20,000 volts (phase to ground).
These requirements enhance team member safety and align with evolving industry standards. Major contractors, including Barton Malow, (have already taken measures to lead the way in safer requirements)compliant safety helmets on their job sites.
It’s another example of our commitment to keeping team members safe while meeting customer and industry requirements.
